The Onyx Zone (OZ) benefits are incredibly inadequate for the value required for the rank. Currently, the only 2 benefits received from the OZ are an Onyx-exclusive Crystal Cave and a restoration altar that provides semi-boosted stats. This is already a poor benefit offering to begin with, however there is now a new problem with these benefits: The increase in Onyx players is over-crowding the Crystal Cave in the OZ, which severely nullifies the intended benefit of efficiency and accessibility. To be completely honest, the OZ has one truly consistent benefit as it stands.
It is high time some improvements were made. I do not want to impose anything that would be game-breaking, however increasing this zone with even minor QoL improvements would increase the value of the zone, add renewed interest in grinding for the rank for those who cannot afford to purchase out of their own pocket, and increase the overall marketability of the rank for potential out-of-pocket donators, making the server more money. Additionally, it would be a fantastic way to please the biggest supporters of this server. That, too. 😉
Various improvements I propose:
Discounted supplies in standard and iron man shops
SellMeAnything store with increased offering on any items sold
OZ-specific boss much like the DZ currently has with an improved drop table
Add multiple, selectable instances of the Crystal Caves to minimize over-crowding
Add a “Boss Room” in which many popular slayer task bosses are available to be killed (Exclusive teleport NPC with instanced teleports to these bosses would be a viable alternative)
Add an improved skilling area
- Hunter area with increased number of dragon/lucky imp spawns with half the respawn timer
- Mining area with more high-level rocks, amethyst mine with increased mining speed
- Fishing area with increased fishing speed
Cosmetic items exclusive to the OZ, tradability between players is up for discussion.
Improved bonuses from the restoration altar
Much like the Legendary Zone, add an Onyx-specific dungeon with sought-after slayer task monsters, increased lava dragon spawns, etc.
Slayer master with increased odds of giving popular tasks
- Discounted Crystal Slayer tasks (500k or 750k)
- Increase limit of slayer boss monsters allowed from 35 to 50, higher limits up for discussion.
